HEERUP SCHOOL

HEERUP SCHOOL

Location: Brønshøj, Denmark
Scope: Partial contract

IC Gruppen was involved from the start in a partnership with another installation partner, who withdrew from the project in its final phase. As a result, IC Gruppen Denmark took over the entire electrical contract for the school, which was to be both renovated and expanded with a brand-new wing.

The extensive work at the school included all cabling for lighting fixtures, fiber optics, and fire protection. In addition, the project involved the installation and mounting of all fixtures, both indoors and outdoors, as well as the installation of all appliances.

The City of Copenhagen wanted to construct the new extension with a strong emphasis on wood, including CLT (cross-laminated timber), which was chosen for both aesthetic and sustainability reasons.

The green initiative had several objectives, a key one being to reduce the building’s carbon footprint by using wood instead of traditional materials such as concrete and steel. At the same time, the project was intended to serve as a development initiative for sustainable construction within the City of Copenhagen, with the vision of creating a healthier and more harmonious environment for students through the use of natural materials, green outdoor spaces, and a close connection between the indoor and outdoor environments.

The project is also one of the first major timber construction projects in the City of Copenhagen and is designed to have a very low carbon footprint. The building is expected to have a climate impact of approximately 10 kg of CO₂ equivalents per square meter per year, which is significantly lower than that of traditional school buildings.
